FAQ
How accurate are the targets?
Targets are deterministic and based on Mifflin–St Jeor with standard activity factors. They are a starting point and should be adjusted based on real progress.
Where does nutrition data come from?
We use USDA FoodData Central for generic foods and Open Food Facts for barcodes. We never invent numbers.
Do you store Open Food Facts data permanently?
No. Barcode data is fetched on-demand and cached short-term for performance. We do not merge it into a permanent database. Open Food Facts data is licensed under ODbL.
What if USDA API key is missing?
The app still works with a built-in seed catalog of foods and recipes.
Can I add my own foods?
Yes. Scan a barcode or add foods to your local list. They are stored in your browser.
